This week's episode: The seven things new radio show hosts need to avoid
I begun the show installing the 3 new DNA strands foe existing and newly to be radio show hosts:
DNA 1 - Content Generation
DNA 2 - Distributing Content
DNA 3 - Leverage
The seven things new radio show hosts need to avoid:
1. Not preparing for your show - an example "do prepare at least for an
hour at the beginning and then let it all go before you begin your show"
2. Using cheap equipment - "do your shows with an HD Cam and use a good
quality Mic"
3. Not preparing your Guests - "do not assume that they are prepared-test them"
4. Being cocky about your content - "If you thing you know it all or
motivated by something other then being of service of your listeners get ready to ride the roller coaster"
5. Not screening your callers - "make them safe and welcome them by
welcoming them to your show, asking them their first and the city they are calling from"
6. Doing your show just in audio - "90% of human perception is visual"
7. Not marketing your show - "you just had a baby, take care of it by
letting the world know about it"

The Holy Grail of Internet Radio: Most radio show hosts whom have a interview style radio show are missing out on this opportunity-marketing to their guests by providing valuable services to them.
There are three principle keys that I have covered on the show to fill this gap:
Key 1 - Create a generic business product or service and re-niche the front end for maximum benefits and results. A few examples from our own business: "The Seven Dirty Little Internet Radio Show Marketing Sins", "The Seven Dirty Little Life Coaching Marketing Sins", "The Seven Dirty Little Authors Marketing Sins"-you get the idea!
Key 2 - Create your product/service value ladder. I used an example from our own business; we use our interview style radio shows as a free service to "wow" our potential clients by dedicating an entire our of a show to make them, their product and service shine. Then we market that show on the Internet very heavily to show them some results and drive traffic to their website, product/service. Then we market to them and enroll them in the possibility of using some of our services to take their business to a new level. Such as home study programs, audios, videos, seminars, one-on-one coaching, done for you services like SEO and traffic generation and inner circles.
Key 3 - Acres of diamonds in your own backyard. Focus on your niche and sell deep within that niche. Target your groups you want to sell to locally and on-line nationally. When you focus on a niche you have the potential to make 10 times more with a fraction of the effort.

Why you do not have enough listeners? http://www.realcoachingradio.net/content/radio-show-superstar
Fri, 05/07/2010 - 17:45
This is the most frequent question that I get asked by existing and
potential new radio show host-How do I get more listeners for my radio
show?
There can be a number of reasons:
1. Your content is not interesting enough, engaging and or entertaining. You have other motives then foremost being at service to your audience
2. You are not being real and authentic as a human being. Your ego and
"core issue" is running the show
3. You are not marketing your radio show like a product
You must conduct a thorough research on your niche and business market,
develop a plan and handle the ongoing marketing of your business on the
Internet as follows:
1. Market Research:
-Identify Goal to complete this project
-Brainstorm and write down search queries
-Research chosen keywords
-Identify the best keywords
-Analyze the current Search Engine Results Pages for the best keywords
-Investigate and get to know the competition in similar niche
2. On-site Web-Research:
-Sign up and verify with Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, and Bing Webmaster Center
-Evaluate the visual design of your site
-Check compatibility between browsers
-Check HTML code and optimize all of the SEO related tags

Imagination-Your Belief in Yourself
Don't let to many rules, self-doubt, your logic or perceived reality spoil your dreams!
I was sharing questions and comments from the different Internet Radio
Groups I am a member of weaving in my imagination and creativity into the answers.
Kate-a radio show host on a commercial station asked about Clear
Channel Radio Network. I have provided a review of how Clear Channel
handles brokered shows.
Mike-a Direct Marketing and Sales Expert asked: What strategies are working best to drive visitors to your web based audio when you are an independent internet only radio host? Our marketing model is as follows:
1. Content Generation:
-On every Live show we generate; audio in the form of an .mp3 file, videos in form of .wmv files, blogs for our website summarizing and/or announcing our shows.
-the host or guest may announce the show in a blog and then when it is
Podcasted there, it is an up to a 400 word blog, summarizing the show
including links to our guest's website.
2. Distributing Content on the Internet:
-After the Live show within 24-48 hours the .mp3 audio files are edited and transformed into a Podcast and Published.
-We syndicate our Podcast feeds to 17 Podcast directories including
iTunes.
-There may be an up to 400 word blog "show summary' (this depends on the type of radio hosting package the host has with us) that includes links to the Podcast archive, a short guest bio, link to the radio show page, a 15 minute video teaser from the show and the entire one our program in full motion video. Listen to the show below to get the long answer.
Sylvain-an Interactive Media Consultant asked: what is the most
popular means to listen to radio on the Internet?: desktop computer, mobile device, table top devices, iTunes, downloads to .mp3 players are just a few but the one to watch is cars. Watch out terrestrial radio sations, Ford is implementing Internet Radio in their cars now, soon others to follow!

Fri, 04/23/2010 - 00:21
Interview with Warwick John Fahy-Author of the "One Minute Presenter" Executive Speech Coach, Workshop Trainer-Facilitator and MC.
Warwick is is an expert in the art and practice of executive public speaking-he has demonstrated that on the show within 15 minutes. We talked about information overload and how do we get our message across
effectively when most people are not even in the present listening to what we are saying.
Warwick took us through the eight practical steps from his book:
Step 1: You the Presenter-Become more self aware by taking The One Minute Presenter Questionnaire, learn the key elements of an authentic speaker, face the causes of public speaking fear with 6 fear-busting practical tips.
Step 2: Treasure your Audience-How to paint a portrait of your audience. Understand the difference between demographics and psycho-graphics. Techniques to gather information about your audience. How to create an avatar of your ideal audience. Essential questions to build up a golden avatar profile. Why today’s audience expectations are so diverse. Four reasons an audience wants to listen to you. How to create a perspective that starts from the audience’s interests.
Step 3: Produce your Message-First, write a 25-word happy ending that summarizes what you want youraudience to think, feel and do at the end of your presentation. Second, think like a movie producer to turn your presentation into a concept that can be used in a variety of different presentations. Third, use characters to make your content come alive by using a 5-step business storytelling process. Fourth, pick out key parts of your speech and like a good TV reporter turn them into soundbites and slogans, which become the tag-lines of your message. more information here about the 8 steps: http://www.oneminutepresenter.com/sample-chapter/
What to do with our nerves before we start a presentation, radio show,
important conversations etc...and how to engage our audience took up the rest of our time. Our discussion was very engaging, I have felt we just begun our conversation. I hope Warwick will return soon!

Behind the Scenes of a New Media Specialist: On my last show of "Be a New Media Radio Show Host"-I took you behind the scenes of what our new media specialists do to publish the various radio content to make a radio show more successful on the Internet.
On the show I have shared our marketing concept of a new media radio show:"we find creative ways, using creative tools for your content to be easily found, distributed and shared on the Internet-thus increasing your web-site visitors-increasing your conversion rate and increasing your profits".
How we primarily accomplish this is by social media marketing, social
linking and social profile management.
I have shared how we publish audio-podcast, video and blog content to getlisteners to engage more in a radio show:
- video hosting sites
- social bookmarking sites
- social news sites
- ping services
- photo sharing sites
- podcast directories
- blog platforms
- web-feed aggregators
- micro-blogging platforms
- how to video sites
I have showed you how we use semi automated tools to accomplish our work. These tools come with a lot of potencial sites included in them to publish content, however, a lot of those sites may not apply to your niche and would not benefit you at all actually it may hurt you.
How we will analyze your brand, niche and place you into the sites where there is a match, interest and popularity for your content. This is an ongoing process, it is never static.
Real Technology Group has been responsible for more then two years to
design, implement our web-site and daily publish our new media content on the Internet. For more information go to http://realtechnologygroup.net
